The Theresian Way of Life – What do we do?
Theresians gather together in small faith communities to share faith through the Five Dimensions of
Spirituality, Community, Education, Vocation and Ministry. It is through these Five Dimensions that we grow in holiness with one another. Theresians create a sacred space where women can be nurtured and encouraged to use their gifts for the benefit of their family, their Theresian community and the community in which they live. Every local community is encouraged to have six positions that rotate each year among the membership:
- Team Leader – Coordinates the Leadership Team for the year
- Spiritual Coordinator – Plans prayer for each meeting during her term
- Program Coordinator – Plans an educational program for each month during
- Secretary – Records minutes of their planning meetings and sends a newsletter announcement to each member
- Treasurer – Receives local membership dues, issues payment to speakers and encourages members to send Membership Dues to the Theresian office.
- Membership Coordinator – Communicates with those who cannot attend to keep them informed and invites new women to join the community when space is available.
The Leadership Team of each community works closely together to plan enriching prayer and programs every month. Many Theresian communities have been together for 30 or 40 years and have enjoyed the support of their Theresian sisters throughout all the joys and sorrows of their lives.
Theresians come together as women of faith nationally and internationally through conferences. Past National Conferences have been held in: Houston, Texas, Lafayette, Louisiana, Chicago, Illinois, Denver, Colorado. International Conferences are held every four years: Australia, Canada, Ghana, Brazil, Thailand, Philippines, and the USA.
